Monticello, FL, HVAC Company FAQs
An HVAC tune-up typically includes the following in Monticello, FL:
- A cleaning of your HVAC unit
- An inspection of your HVAC unit
- A lubrication of your HVAC unit’s parts
- A replacement of your air filter
Getting your HVAC unit tuned up has many advantages because it keeps your system running smoothly and helps your energy costs stay low. To get the most out of servicing your HVAC unit, you should have it tuned up twice a year.
A home air conditioning unit recharge should cost around $350-$1,200. Some things that can impact the price of the recharge are:
- How severe the leak is
- How much refrigerant needs to be recharged
- The type of refrigerant your AC unit uses
If your leak is severe and your AC unit still uses the refrigerant R22, the cost of the repair will be on the higher end of the range. Since R22 has been discontinued, it is harder and more expensive to obtain.
To get the cleanest indoor air for your Monticello, FL home you should:
- Clean your home on a regular basis
- Open windows to let in fresh air
- Utilize exhaust fans
Another thing you can do if your indoor air quality is suffering is to get an air purifier for your home. Air purifiers can be helpful in filtering your indoor air when other methods are not as effective.

Diagnostic/ Master bedroom system not cooling. Arrived and found a burnt up disconnect box, not allowing voltage to pass to the condenser. I replaced the disconnect and surge protector and tested operations. The system is cooling properly at this time.
Customer said that the unit was not cooling and the outdoor fan was not spinning. When I arrived the unit was completely running. Took a temperature split and return was 73° and supply was 51°. I checked all electrical components and everything was amping in the right ranges. Checked capacitor and it was getting weak but still within proper range. Checked condenser fan to see if the bearings were going bad but the bearings were still good. I then took off the top of the unit to inspect the return side of the evaporator coil and it was clean. Customer said the air felt weak so I set the blower motor up 1 speed higher. When I got everything back together I turned the unit back on and it had a 20° temperature split with 79° return and 59° supply. Thank you for your business.

03/27/2025- I arrived on site to preform the diagnostic and found the issue to be a bad compressor due to all three compressor terminals being shorted to ground. To insure that the issue doesn’t reappear all high voltage electrical components connected to the compressor should also be replaced along with the refrigerant and filter drier. These electrical components include the 240v contactor, the 45/5 run capacitor, and the 3.5-5 compressor start capacitor and relay kit. Since this units warranty has expired this brings up another option. I spoke to the customer about possibly installing a new unit to bypass these issues and to get the customer a unit that has a warranty to prevent any other issues from occurring. She said that she would discuss this with her husband and call us if that interests them. I the meantime I have sent the estimate for the compressor replacement to the email on file. This unit will not operate until the compressor has been replaced. 4 Ton Daikin unit M#DZ1

Personable and efficient crew.
Brenden is a credit to Benson's - all of your employees are great, but Brenden stands out for a number of reasons, he: listens carefully to questions and provides an answer that makes sense to uninformed, he's courteous and friendly and most of all, he is proud of his work and the company he represents - one of the nicest service person I've ever met.
Excellent technician, great service

Thank you so much for this great 5-star review. We really appreciate your business and helping to share the word about us.
Excellent!
Mr. Cole was attentive and responsive to my observations and followed up by explaining the work he performed to ensure our summertime check up was complete.
I have an older system, 2006, and you sent 2 techs with one being a trainee. I knew the goal was to sell me a new A/C system. I asked what a leak test would entail and I got a don’t know what it will cost but a tech will be sent out. I was not told any pertinent facts that a Leak Test could take many hours or weeks if a dye is used to see where the leak is (costing me possibly over $2,000). Plus fixing a leak could cause more leaks if the test itself doesn’t cause more leaks. So I have no idea as to the cost exposure. My reality is my system does keep me cool and doing a leak test could further damage my system. Next my UV bulb was pointed out as going bad but it still lights up. I asked what they cost and what is the size (length of the bulb) and I got no answer just that someone would provide a quote ((never received). Today it is 91 outside and I am cool inside with the compressor running occasionally. If the system was leaking then I would have no cooling. My level of trust is minimal and other Techs were thorough and did not indicate a leak test was needed just that the system was getting old and the refrigerant was no longer available. Hmmm during a leak test how much refrigerant is lost? Why do a leak test is you cannot recharge the system (all your techs said the refrigerant was no longer available). It is not logical that a leak test performed without replacement refrigerant being available is a good idea. Potential more leaks and no replacement refrigerant. I know my system is from 2006 and there are today much more efficient systems on the market. This tech was not able to offer alternative systems to consider like the first techs that came out ( he wanted to leave).I had asked for a high seer 23 system before and all you could offer was a 18 seer unit.
Chris is excellent
Very good!
