TITLE: Commercial Estimator

TENURE: 21 years

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for commercial construction estimating. I also assist in some budgeting and other activities here at Bensons.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE: I started working this trade in the mid 80’s in Orlando Florida, working large commercial projects. In ‘88 I decided to leave the Orlando area to live closer to family that moved to N. Florida. I worked many of Tallahassee’s landmark projects such as the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Doak Campbell Stadium, Leon County Jail on Appleyard Dr. and various other large commercial projects before landing here at Benson’s. Benson’s commercial department was just getting off the ground at the time so I was a good fit with the commercial install end of the company. Soon after starting here I went into the sheet metal apprenticeship program and became certified. Soon after that I was in charge of many of the projects we contracted. After spending a number of years working in the field I was offered to learn the estimating end of the trade which I have been doing for close to 10 years.
